Eastern recently released its list of newly enrolled students for the fall 2014 semester.

The Dean's Award for academic excellence is awarded to recipients with a 3.30 or higher grade-point average while enrolled in 3.75 or more course hours.

Eastern Connecticut State University recently held a free enrichment summer camp for local middleschoolers. The "Puentes al Futuro/Bridges to the Future" camp is run by Eastern's Center for Community Engagement (CCE).

This achievement is awarded to students who have participated in Eastern's clubs during the academic year. The student club programs range from social to educational, physical to spiritual, and civic engagement programs that equally affect the Eastern community.

Eastern Connecticut State University fall 2013 Dean's List.

Four hundred and four Nichols students have earned Dean's List or Dean's High Honors during the just-completed spring term. The Dean's List recognizes students who have achieved high grades during a single semester. In order to be included in the Dean's List, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.2 for at least 12 credit-hours and receive no grade below a C+ during the semester. A student who earns a grade point average of 3.6 or higher is awarded Dean's High Honors.

A number of Eastern Connecticut State University students recently presented research projects at the 14th Annual Excellence Expo. The event is sponsored by the School of Education/Professional Studies and Graduate Division.

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its spring 2014 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits. The following local students have achieved this honor:

The Communication Department's annual Celebration of Excellence took place at the end of the spring semester. A number of students were inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society for communication.

Eastern Connecticut State University's 41st Annual Biology Student Awards took place at the end of the spring semester. The event recognizes students who major in biology and who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, research and other academic pursuits.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Economics Department held its annual induction ceremony for Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for economics, at the end of the spring semester. Omicron Delta Epsilon is among the oldest and most prestigious of all academic honor societies, and seeks to recognize those individuals who have distinguished themselves in economic science.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Health and Physical Education held its annual honor society induction at the end of the spring semester. This year, six students were inducted into Alpha Upsilon Chi, the honor society that recognizes academic excellence and professional involvement in the disciplines of health, physical education, recreation, sport and dance.

Eastern Connecticut State University held its 14th Annual Arts and Sciences Research Conference and Exhibition at the end of the spring semester. The event featured oral and visual presentations of student-led scientific research and artwork. More than 50 presentations were delivered by students from a range of academic departments.

At the University of Rhode Island's 128th Commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, 2014, about 3,000 undergraduate and 680 graduate students became the University's newest alumni.

In two ceremonies on Saturday, May 3, 2014, more than 500 Fort Lewis College graduates and their families packed Whalen Gym for Spring Commencement. Recognizing outstanding student academic achievement, Assumption College has named more than 520 students to the undergraduate Dean's List for the fall 2013 semester. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Assumption students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester.

Eastern's chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME), the national honor society for mathematics, recently held its annual induction ceremony. Seventeen students were inducted into the society, joining the more than 80,000 members nationwide from approximately 150 chapters.

The following students received degrees from Western New England University on May 17, 2014.

Assumption College's 97th Commencement ceremony was held on May 17 on the campus's H.L. Rocheleau Field, where 463 Bachelor of Arts degrees; 217 graduate studies degrees (Master of Arts and Master of Business Administration) and certificates; and 35 Continuing and Career Education degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science, and associates) were awarded.

Jesse T. DeLucca of East Lyme, CT, received the College of Engineering's Henry L. Sundberg Jr. Award during the College Honors Ceremonies at Western New England University.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

Eastern Connecticut State University recently released the names of full-time students who were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2014 semester.

Springfield College Recognizes Dean's List Students for the 2014 Spring Semester.

The State University of New York at New Paltz has announced its Dean's List for the spring 2014 semester. Dean's List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade point average in a semester with a full-time course load.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

The following area residents have been named to the Spring 2014 Dean's List at Champlain College, a private baccalaureate institution, located in Burlington, Vt. It is a national leader in educating students through its unique program that prepares students for life beyond college with a mix of professional training, academic enrichment and cultural immersion.

Many Stonehill College students will be spending their spring break week helping those in need as part of the school's H.O.P.E. Alternative Spring Break Program. The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Wheeling, West Virginia where they will be working with the Appalachian Institute at Wheeling Jesuit University. While there, they will work on site at its Fresh Air Farms and learn about social justice issues ranging from mountain top removal, fracking, and addiction which are prevalent in the local community.

Eastern Connecticut State University's 124th Commencement took place at the XL Center in Hartford on May 13. In all, 1,162 undergraduates and 65 graduate students earned their degrees.
